Summarization: putting an author's words into a shorter version of the original to help you understand the main points; keep the meaning cut out the less important detail.
Summarize the article about the couple who found cockroaches on the plane--under Pararphrasing (above).
Friday: News for You article about current event,
Occupy Wallstreet. Summarize, paraphrase, and write about this after also looking at other news articles and websites online. Decide what you think about the movement from the little we read about it--agree or disagree with its purpose. What is its purpose? What are your reasons/feelings about this? Look at images from the Occupy Olympia website, below, and discuss in class. How do these images affect a person who wonders what the movement is about? How are images used to persuade you?
